Every article is subsequently read by our editorial team, but only once the article has gone live.
This instant submission onto relevant, targeted pages is very appealing and makes News etc a very flexible new tool for businesses and PR companies. But it also brings some responsibility for self regulation.
These Editorial Guidelines are designed to help you produce the most relevant articles and to stop you falling foul of our editors.

We strongly recommend adding an image to your article. Pictures can benefit the user by illustrating a point and by adding interest and depth to an article. Images make information more engaging.
But there are benefits beyond those offered to users of the site. When you upload an image with your submission, we automatically include a thumbnail beside the title of your article when it is shown in the Latest News area of the page. In fact, if you don't have an image, your article will not qualify to be included in the Latest News section of the page. We also allow you to add some descriptive copy for your image. This copy is specifically to allow you to meet with Accessibility laws - it tells describes the picture to people who cannot see the image. A beneficial side effect of adding this copy is that it makes your article more appealing to the search engines.
We submit all article pages to the major search engines as part of the submission process.
One benefit of the internet is that you can take people directly to the story. This greatly improves the user experience and effectiveness of the article. Remember that you article will be seen by highly relevant targeted buyers who want to know about products and services like yours. So a link at the end of your article can be of considerable commercial benefit.
As well as benefiting the user and driving traffic to your website, it is generally accepted that inbound links can improve your search engine ranking. However, if we suspect that links are being used purely to drive traffic we reserve the right to remove the link without notice.
Links must take a user directly to a relevant page on your site. If our editorial team feel that this is not the case, they may remove the link from your article. We reserve the right to remove a link at any time for any reason without notice.
Web links are charged at a standard, nominal rate. In exceptional circumstances, we reserve the right to adjust the cost of links on pages and sites where we feel the link has a disproportionate benefit to the site being linked to. Any variation in our standard costs will be clearly flagged at the time you select a page for your article. Any variations in cost will be clearly shown at the time you are asked to confirm your submission.
